“Scarless” Surgery / Minimal Incision Surgery Q & A

What are the benefits of minimal incision surgery?

1.The incisions are 2-3mm long and discreetly placed in areas that are hidden from sight. Smaller incisions mean less pain and swelling compared to open surgery and of course have a more pleasing appearance.

2. Surgery is performed under local anesthesia in the comfort of the office's surgical suite. Therefore, there are no large or unexpected bills from a hospital or surgery center. Patients can easily walk out of the procedure wearing a special shoe/boot given to them by Dr. Pandit.

3. Since the work is very skilled and delicate, most patients have minimal pain and do not need to take anything more than Ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain.

4. Recovery is shorter than traditional surgery and walking are encouraged. The time needed for work is generally much, much less.

5. Most procedures involve no hardware, such as screws, metal plates, or pins. This makes for a more comfortable procedure and less risk for hardware rejection or breakage.

Who is the Right Candidate for Minimal Incision surgery?

Ideally, the patient is someone who is generally healthy with no underlying risk factors such as allergies to local anesthesia, high anxiety, uncontrolled diabetes or heart conditions, and certain auto-immune diseases.
